I've been following this discussion with rapt interest. What is not clear
to me is why one of the visible contenders on "the short list" is not
making a move to fill what appears to be a bona-fide technical need.
Is it an ARB issue, a "must get the blessing of [SGI, ARB, ??]"?

To throw another chicken into the fight, so to speak, we make a
scene graph based tool that works well with either OpenGL or Mesa, and
has been used as the modeling and rendering base in products that
are now coming to market. It's geared towards scientific visualization,
rather than vis-sim or gaming, so may not appeal to this crowd.

Is there another forum for this besides the performer list?

Wes
