pfdLoadFile trouble

I just installed 2.2 and am having trouble loading files of type
.medit or .rxs. I originally got messages that said I needed a newer
version of libMedit, so I built the latest versions and now I get this:

=> warn pfdLoadFile() - Unable to load file /usr2/simulations/models/misc/isuzu.medit because of problem finding pfdLoadFile_medit

I compiled and placed libpfmedit_ogl.so in /usr/lib/libpfdb and also
made an N32 version and put it in /usr/lib32/libpfdb

I cp'ed these files to libpfmedit.so in both of those directories, too.

nm libpfmedit_ogl.so | grep pfdLoadFile_medit
shows that this function is in fact in this file. How do I get a
working loader for Medit or .rxs for perf 2.2?
