Problems with XWarpPointer under Irix 6.4/Performer 2.2

Is there any reason that XWarpPointer would not work properly on an Octane?
I have a simulation application in which I'm using it to center the mouse
on the screen at startup, and on a particular keypress. It works just fine
when the program starts up, but it doesn't work if I press the appropriate
key in my program to force the mouse to center itself. Interestingly, the
function call works just fine on an Indy running Irix 6.2. Any suggestions?
