Overview of the Advanced Visualization Group
--------------------------------------------
The Advanced Visualization Group (AVG) is tasked with applying leading
edge
computer graphics technology to a variety of engineering applications in
the
areas of: detailed ship design, Simulation Based Design (SBD), naval
tactical
displays, and combat system analysis. Specific technologies that they
apply
are: visualization and interaction of large CAD models, volume
visualization,
virtual reality, physics based modeling, VRML, and large area terrain
visualization.
Opportunity
-----------
We are looking for self-motivated individuals with a strong background
in
computer science and computer graphics to join our core graphics
development
team. The individual would be part of a team tasked with producing an
object-oriented graphics toolkit. The toolkit will be the basis for all
the graphics based applications the AVG is responsible for. The toolkit
will be based on OpenGL, but will also be integrated with a variety a
commercial products such as Vega, Multigen, Performer, and the OpenGL
Optimizer.
Basic Skills Required
---------------------
The candidate should have proficient programming skills in one or more
of the
following: OpenGL, Performer, or the OpenGL Optimizer. Experience with
object-oriented programming in C++ is also a plus.
Additional Skills
-----------------
Special consideration will be given to candidates who have, in addition
to the
basic skills, knowledge in the following areas: mathematics, numerical
analysis, or computational geometry.
Education Requirements
The candidate should have as a minimum a BS degree in computer science.
An MS
degree is preferred.
