library conflict

   I'm just starting to write Performer code, after having lurked on this
list for some time. I hope that this isn't too trivial a problem. The
Performer programmers guide recommends compiling with -lmalloc, but when I
compile with this there is a conflict with libc. If anyone
knows how to solve this I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.
