statically linking performer executables

Hi -

Does anyone have knowledge of whether executables that are
statically linked to the Performer libraries perform correctly/
optimally across platforms? I.e., if i create a statically linked
executable on an O2 will it run correctly/optimally on a RE2
or IR? Other than not getting the benefit of possible performer
patches/upgrades is their any downside to this?

Any pros/cons or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
