Thank you for the responses to my performance
questions. I'm still in the process of trying out
your suggestions. I'll post the result when it is
done.

To answer some of your questions:

Yes, I'm running as root.
I've tried using pfuPrioritizeProcs and
restricting the cpus using mpadmin, none of those
seem to have helped. Maybe I wasn't doing it
correctly. I'll look into that again.
