multi-channel performer setup using ircombine

Hi-
I am *trying* to use ircombine to do something useful on my onyx iR. I
want a performer application I'm developing to be able to draw up to
five channels in five viewports within a window, and have the physical
displays mapped onto each of the viewports. At the moment, I have a DG
with two outputs, so I'm just trying to set up the framebuffer for two
channels. No matter what I do, ircombine complains about an integer
parameter out of range (an X error). What I want to do is configure the
framebuffer to have a size of 1280x480. Channels 0 and 1 should each
have a size of 640x480 with 60Hz refresh rate, and channel 1 should have
an x offset of 640. Basically, two VGA-resolution channels adjacent to
each other in the framebuffer. The total resolution is smaller than the
existing 1280x1024, so I don't think I'm asking for anything beyond the
capabilities of the hardware. However, nothing that I have tried has
worked. Anyone know what I am missing?
thanks,
Chris
