Other issues to consider:

Isn't Performer 2.1 released only for IRIX6.2? It is
OpenGL only (okay, of course, for Impacts, O2s, iRs).

There are several bugs in 2.1 and 2.0 which have been fixed in the
2.0.2 patches (1347 and 1392 for IRIX6.2). These patches repair
libraries from Performer 2.0 and 2.0.1 only, but these patches
do not apply to the Performer 2.1 libraries (the ones tagged sgi3.0).

We've also had difficulty linking statically with Performer 2.1
libraries, but not with 2.0.2.

For these reasons, we've avoided using Performer 2.1 on anything
but the iR, but are interested in hearing more about 2.1 on
non-iR systems. We would like to use it for all platforms if
we can get around the above problems. Are there any long term
"success" stories out there?
