I did something similar several years ago, on a much smaller scale,
using
an Amiga. For ~US$10, I build a box that detected the sync from a video
signal and reconstructed the control signal for some LCD shutter
goggles.

I don't know of a commercial solution, but the proof-of-concept worked.
