how to do a new node ?

Hello,

I'm developping a new LOD system and I would like to try it
with Performer tools. But the pfLod class isn't appropriate.

Is it possible to derive a pfNode, or a child of pfNode ?
Which methods do I need to create or to overload ?
Where can I find informations to do that ?
