IV files and transparency

We are trying to load multiple inventor models that have some transparency
(in a Material node). When one model is place partially inside another, the
portion of the model disappears from certain seemingly random view points as
the camera moves through the scene. I have tried to set various portions of
the global states with pfTransparency and pfOverride functions, and I have
drilled down to the GeoState of the models to mess with the attributes and
models. All to no avail.

I need to know what combination of transparency/blending functions, color
modes, etc that are required to get this to work on both an Impact and an
Onyx RE2.
