Hello,
What I have tried to do with my model of the earth is to create a good
model with geography shown, and a map of the earth used as a texture. It
sounds like a similar situation to the one posted today. The model that I have
made uses a triangle strip, and sets the texture coordinates based on the
spherical coordinates of the earth. I'd be glad to share my algorithm with
you, although it may not be what you are looking for.
I'm still having a few problems with the model because I can't get
backface culling to work well at all. The other side of the earth is sometimes
visible through the front, even through my texture map. Maybe we'll have a
little advice to share.
