Well, some time ago I posted some mails about this subject. I can't even
get to compile the library because my compiler doesn't support the
format of the 3dsftk.a file (No _MDEBUG_ section or something...)
The only reply I got from people at sgi was: DIY (Do it yourself)... and
that's exactly what I did :-)
I've written an 3ds importer with single or double faced polygons,
Normals are calculated like it should (3ds2iv gives shading-errors on
most complex objects - the standard loader doesn't even calculate
normals), reflection maps are supported, ... There is only one problem
with it: In some 3ds-objects there seem to be some unknown color-chunk
that I can't decode... but most objects load just fine.
If anybody knows a colorchunk with tag 0x2000 let me know so I can fix
it.
