pfCullFace - bad mode

I've been porting some s/w from IRIS GL Performer 2.0 to OPEN GL Performer
2.1 and although it's mostly working I'm getting the message:

PF Warning/Usage: pfCullFace - bad mode: 1

constantly. THe s/w never calls pfCullFace directly and the calls to
pfGStateMode(PFSTATE_CULLFACE ...) all seem to be using the correct
constants.... clues anybody?
