HELP: How to control fog?

I'm trying to use black fog to simulate night visibility.
The problem is that when the day dawns I can't seem to get my light blue
sky back (smoothly).

I tried to change fog range moving it further away from viewpoint but I
didn't get good results.

How can I do this? What parameters should I change?
