IRIS Performer's 3DStudio loader uses the SGI ImageVision Library (IL)
to load the 3DS file's textures. Due to this, when we compiled the 3DS
loader, we specified that it needed the IL libraries (-lil -lcil) at
runtime. When people have problems with 3DS file, it seems that it's
due to that fact that they did not load the "il_eoe" subsystem from
their IRIX CD. Load this subsystem, and you should be fine.
