Performers,

Suppose that someone wanted to extract distance data from the zbuffer after a
scene has been rendered. Is the value in the zbuffer simply a linear value
ranging from 0x00 at the near clipping plane to 0xff (with the appropriate
number of places) at the far clipping plane? Is it nonlinear? Is there a
source of information that describes the zbuffer values?

Thanks,
Shawn
