In addition to what Rob said: be sure that you have the appropriate
set of IMPACT patches loaded, as several texture bugs have been
fixed. At present, I believe you'll want "5.3 ALL IMPACT" as the
base OS and patches 1098 & 1105. If you have XFS there are some
others as well.

If the problem is one of apparent quantization or mach-banding on the
textures, you'll need more TRAM. But if it's truly "bad colors" then
go with the patches.
