I look if this was the difference at the two Max Impacts that I tried.
On the one where libcil.so was missing I tried the following
   setenv PFNFYLEVEL 5
   setenv PFLD_LIBRARY_PATH .
   perfly crater.3ds

and yes, dlopen() complained it couldn't find libcil.so.
After copying it, the whole thing worked.

I have a question about the installation.
Why is this lib not installed when I tell performer not to install the
Performer/friends?
