Also do this:
    setenv PFLD_LIBRARY_PATH .
(as described in a dark corner in the pfdLoadFile man page)
to see all the error messages from the run-time linker.

Usually when this happens with the 3ds loader it means
you are missing libcil.so
(install it from the inst subsystem called "il_eoe.sw.c").
