Performer 2.0 only uses mmap() for shared memory,
so it is not responsible.

The small shared memory segment with key 0x9a4 is
created by GL for communicating with the window
server. It's left around for reuse.

And by the way, Rob Mace says it's his fault (from
NeWS days).
