Basic Performer 2.0 Question

Really basic question... If I write a Performer app, can someone run it
on an SGI that doesn't have the Performer Run-Time Environment?

In other words, is the Performer Run-Time Environment just the shared libraries
that are needed to run Performer apps?

Also, if I wanted to write a Performer App for a machine w/o Run-time
Environment, would I need to compile it using the static libraries? If so,
how do you do that?

Am I really confused about how all this works? :^)
