pfiXformer?

I would like to provide our Performer applications with access to a new input
device (based on camera input) providing up to 6 degrees of freedom.

Ideally it should appear as an alternative to mouse with the standard
Trackball, Drive and Fly motion models supported. I would also like to
introduce other motion models.

What is the suggested way to extend the pfiXformer functionality? Where can I
find more info, details, guidelines, etc.

I am new to Performer and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
