The text example is shipped in
        1.2: /usr/src/Performer/src/pguide/libpf/progs/text.c
        2.0: /usr/share/Performer/src/pguide/libpf/{C,C++}/{text.c,text.C}

FYI, for 2.0 you should also check out the 3D text example using the
new pfFont 3D font support in Performer:
        /usr/share/Performer/src/pguide/libpf/{C,C++}/{text3D.c,text3D.C}
