Attaching Text to a Node

I remember in Performer class seeing an example of text both overlaid
on a scene, as well as attached to moving objects within a scene. The
latter is of more interest. I wish to label objects in my scene so that
I can track down errors more easily.

Anyone have an example of how this is done, or a reference for some
commands that might do it?

Much appreciated if anyone can help.
