Please see below with regard to your questions on an Inventor
saver for 2.0. Hoping you will put this in the Jack system too...

It didn't ship, but SGI (Gavin Bell) did produce a pretty good one internally.
Jim Helman upgraded it to version 2.0 usage. This version
builds a free-standing performer executable you can use to
convert files loaded into performer into Inventor files.
ftp://sgigate.sgi.com/pub/Performer/src/pftoiv1.0.tar.Z
I downloaded this and tested it against some scenes I use, and
fixed some minor bugs. This is now available at the same site
as:
ftp://sgigate.sgi.com/pub/Performer/src/pftoiv1.1.tar.Z
This version works with the pfdStoreFile(), pfdConvertTo() etc.
for the Inventor format. You do have to change either
LD_LIBRARY_PATH or PFLD_LIBRARY_PATH (see man pages for pfdStoreFile)
to point to this new performer library.
