This won't work, infact it'll turn off lighting and apply the rgb color
in the geoset.

You could pick some material property which you don't use, for
example, PFMTL_CMODE_SPECULAR would work discard the colour if your
shininess is zero, so the colour information in the geoset would have no
effect.

Look at the manual entry for lmcolor for clues.
