I don't know if it is the "right" way, but I got around this by
setting the DSO loader path in my .cshrc file:

   setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH ${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:/usr/lib/libpfdb

I think there is also a PFLD_LIBRARY_PATH variable which could
be used. Anyone?
