Please help

I am reading in a terrain object patch (30nm by 30nm -40k polys
with 3LOD's) and want to read in separately a generic airport model
(runway, taxiways, grass patch, and buildings) and allow the user to
use a GUI to translate and rotate the airport into several positions
"on" the terrain. The only problem is that I want the airport to
maintain "normal" viewability, i.e. it should not "flash" with the
terrain object due to z-buffer fighting when viewing from several
thousand feet above nor should I be able to see the airport when
in a valley of the terrain. How can I handle this object priority
problem without just adding the object to the terrain patch database
as a "subobject".

Thanks for the help!!
