glowing effect using pfLightPoint

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the pfLightPoint.
The Programmers' guide says that using pfLightPoint, one can
generate image like star or street light. I wanna make a "radar".

This radar consists of a scan line and object points. scan line
scans the entire space counterclockwise and if the scan line is
near the object point, object point glows.(just like that in sonar system
of 2'nd World War movie)

What is difficult to me is that I can't make glowing effect of a point
using pfLightPoint or other techniques...

Any hints or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
