SGI has 2 methods of stereo:
- the older full-screen stereo (STR_RECT, and so on) where the
screen is divided in two, each half overlapping the other and
scanned out as the full display; available on all platforms
- the newer stereo-in-a-window method where a particular window can
have a left & right buffer, each scanned out in sequence. See
stereobuffer() and leftbuffer()/rightbuffer(). Only available on
RealityEngine.
sfly uses the latter method, which is why it won't work on an
Indigo. Although, I'm a little surprised that you only get a black
screen -- I would have expected some sort of display, but with the
viewpoint oscillating between the right-eye and left-eye positions.
