This is not strictly Performer question, but this list may be the best
place on Earth to post it.
In the Proceeedings of SIGGRAPH'95 in the article "Polygon-Assisted
JPEG and MPEG Compression of Synthetic Images" by Marc Levoy there
is a very interesting footnote (on page 23), which says:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
If rendered on a Silicon Graphics RealityEngine, both renderings can be
performed - and the difference image computed - in a single pass through
the data by remicrocoding the fragment generators.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This does not sound spectacular, but it is: if I understand it correctly
three images are rendered simultaneaously.
My question is: Does Silicon Graphics provide external users with
documentation and some kind of "Development Option" for programming microcode
of Reality Engine ?
Best regards,
Chris Dudkiewicz.
