Look in /usr/src/Performer/src/lib/libpfutil/xwin.c
The routine of interest is pfuGLXWinopen().
Example programs that use this GLX interface include
perfly and pguide/libpfutil/progs/utilui.c

FYI, Performer 2.0 has a windowing API in libpr and libpf
that works with pure IRIS GL, IRIS GLX, and OpenGL.
The pfuGLXWinopen() interface is kept in 2.0 for compatibility.
