The white paper is on sgigate at:

        pub/Performerdocs/AcquirElevData.ps.Z

Beware it may be a little dated.

Also the Performer DTED reader that was contributed a while ago is at:

        pub/Performer/src/npsdted.tar.Z

A very good source for seeing what available in DEM elevation data and
satellite imagery for the US is the USGS web page at:

        http://info.er.usgs.gov/

An finally an interesting Quicktime/AVI movie file, on the web, of a fly
over of Mt. Everest using DTED and Landsat images shown on PBS. Dont
think it uses performer though you would have to the company that made
it, TASC, for details. They also may have info on getting DTED data
for international locations.
