Far Plane Inaccuracy?

Hello all,

A while back I had someone show me a anamoly on the RE. It might be prevalent
in the whole Iris line. I set my far plane to be 100km and I placed a model at
100km. Why would I not expect to see the polygons on this side of the far
plane? I see nothing of the model until the far plane has been increased
another 17.8km. Can someone explain this to me?
