Performance should be fairly good, assuming you're running 5.3 plus
an upcoming OpenGL performance & feature patch that should be ready
at about the same time. I should temper this statement by saying
that this patch is still under development and so not everything has
been benchmarked yet.

I don't recommend OpenGL-based Performer 2.0 with IRIX 5.2. The
performance there was not so good, and most of the RealityEngine
extensions had not been implemented then.

I'll hold off on this one for the moment, as I don't know what's been
confirmed to be announced quite yet.
