Although a biased view.. :)

I taught a 4-day version of the course while I was in France a few
weeks ago, and know for certain that the students (7 or 8) in my
class came away from it in pretty good shape. It was a mix of SGI
people & customers.

I'd say that for the current incarnation of the course, it's
important to know some IRIS GL before taking it. It makes all the
little tidbits thrown in ("layers are implemented with stencil in the
high-quality mode, and displacepolygon in the low-quality mode") much
more meaningful, and those details are what really make it valuable.

Also, the course I taught was 4 days, which (for me) was just right;
I thought that was the standard length but I could be wrong.

Typically when the course is taught here in Mountain View, the
instructors drop one of us a note and we come by for an hour or two
on the last afternoon to talk about new features, answer questions,
and so on. We've done it 3 or 4 times now and have gotten very good
feedback for doing so.

David Marsland (the developer of the course) recently updated the
course material, lab assignments, and code samples in a big way -- I
used his new updates for the course I taught and the changes were
great.

If any of you have taken the course and have some feedback (good or
bad) I'd like to hear it. email aschaffe++at++sgi.com
