It depends what sort of image processing you need to do. You can
do lrectcopies or fbsubtexloads through the GE's back to the
frame buffer or to texture memory. On the way, the GE's can do
various image processing operations at up to 20MPixels per second
per component. (The exact rate depends a lot on what you do).
Check out the man pages for pixmode, pixeltransfer, hgram,
convolve, minmax, and friends.
