  Hello Thom,

We've had partial success loading inventor files into perfly program.
Particularly I've created a simple black box (cube) with showcase and
saved it as an Inventor file. I can the see the Inventor file with an
Inventor ivquicken. When I tried loading the box.iv *BINARY* file into
perfly I obtained similar problems as you did. My solution was to use
ivquicken to "improve" the inventor scene graph's rendering performance
and to convert it to an ascii file. Then perfly had no problem loading
the ascii file, though perfly may have problems with some Inventor ascii
files some of the time etc. Anyway, I've read that the Performer's
function that reads the iv files is not complete and thus misbehaves when
its given an Inventor symbol that it does not recognize.
If you want I can email you my box.iv ascii file and give that a try.
But I sure wish that Performer had it together with these Inventor files.
Hope this helps.
