The Inventor group has contracted with Acuris (the 3D clip-model
company) to produce a more complete, robust set of translators from
other formats into Inventor.

Acuris is developing the following translators:

IGES to IV
Alias to IV
3DStudio to IV
Wavefront to IV
DXF to IV
SoftImage to IV
IV to Renderman (RIB)

We hope to release all 7 of these translators by March of next year
(that is, of course, partly out of our control since Acuris is doing
the work; however, the work is going very well so far). They will be
probably be first made available via anonymous ftp, and will then be
available as a standard part of IRIX.

Along with the new Inventor loader for Performer, these should give you
even more options for sources of data.
