SGI is currently evaluating serial support, in particular what
performance is required by real-time applications that read
serial data every frame, e.g. from trackers, gloves, or other
inptu devices. Hence this request.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has had problems with serial
performance on Onyx or Indigo2 under 5.2.

1. What maximum baud rate do you need?

2. How many ports per machine do you typically use.

3. Have you been unable to run reliably at 38.4Kbaud?
If so, on what machine(s) and OS(es) and what was
the maximum rate that you could use reliably?

4. Has CPU loading from servicing serial I/O been noticable?
