kbhit is function built in by Turbo C++. It is not part of C function.
The same when you try to do this in SGI, you have to use special function
built in by SGI. If you have an SGI machine, in the following directory
/usr/people/4Dgifts/examples/glpg/ch05 there is a program input.c
Go over this example it would help you.
