Here are two simple suggestions:

1. to save a Performer window image:
   a. suspend your app execution (so that window updating is suspended),
      e.g., you could program some user interaction to temporarily halt
      your APP or just use ^Z
   b. use one of the command line programs 'scrsave' or 'snap' (might not
      be the correct cmd names - I'm at home and don't have access to an
      SGI machine at present)

2. to get window parameters interactively, just use the 'xwininfo' command
   line program. See man pages for details.
