We've been running IRIX 5.2 for a few months now. Nothing new has been
installed in the last few days, as far as I know. And I'm using exactly the
same scene database as before.

I'm nearly certain that it's something I've done to the code that is causing it
to misbehave. I'll run some tests with the older version (pre-changes) just to
make sure it's not something else.
