swapbuffer timeouts

I'm getting occasional swapbuffer timeouts in my Performer app. Here's what's
printed on the console:

WARNING: RE pipe 0: swapbuffer timeout

The warning is accompanied by a long (30 second or so) pause in the Performer
app where both the mouse cursor and the app freeze.

Are there any common Performer programming pitfalls that elicit this warning?
 I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, because I just started getting these
warnings after making some significant changes to a program that produced no
such warnings before I made the changes.
