Unresolved symbol in libpf.so ?

We're putting together an application using Performer 1.2 and Paradigm
Simulation's Vega. We just ran into a situation that reports:

vega ../eggfollow.adf
12341:vega: rld: Error: unresolvable symbol in /usr/lib/libpf.so:
__pure_virtual_called
12341:vega: rld: Fatal Error: this executable has unresolvable symbols

The link line is:

cc vega.o read_config.o -L/usr/lib/PSI -lvg -lvgflt -lmgflt -lvgutil -lpfsgi
-lpfutil -lpf -lpr -L/usr/lib/X11 -lmpc -limage -lXm -lXirisw -lgl -lXt -lX11
 -lfpe -lm -o vega

At this point we don't know if this is a problem in the Performer library, in
the Vega API, or in our code. Any ideas?
