The OpenFlight loader does not handle directional light points correctly.
The direction vector is simply interpreted wrong and the light shape is 90
degrees by 90 degrees (old/current Performer defaults?). MultiGen
directional lights have shapes of 180 by 180 degrees. If they have a back
color they're considered PFLP_BIDIRECTIONAL (but only front colored, hmm...
any chance that Performer will support multi-colored light points?)
otherwise they're PFLP_UNIDIRECTIONAL.
Light point direction vector and shape are nearly fixed. These and other
improvements will be available in the next OpenFlight loader released by
MultiGen Inc., some time in July ... 1994 ;-) (SIGGRAPH permitting)
As to the falloff of a pfLightPoint, MultiGen doesn't have that concept, so
the default falloff value of 4 is used by the loader. Their interaction
with Performer's fade LOD capability is best answer by someone in the
Performer Group.
PS: Thanks for the reminder Jean.

Subject: stereo on Indigo II Extreme
Reply-To: matomira++at++epfl.ch
Status: O
Hello,
I am running Performer 1.2 on an Indigo II
Extreme with 5.2 and everything is OK with
the dual-channel display until I do setmonitor(STR_RECT)
Then, the machine gets into stereo mode, and I get to
see in stereo, but the application stops updating the display,
even if I return to normal mode.
The programs seems to run fine if stereo was set before
lanunching it (of course, doing setmonitor from the program
messes up allways).
I create the channels like in the 3-channel simulation
example (with one less channel, different offsets, and
viewports that will match the stereo drawing areas).
Thanks
