  RE: SIGGRAPH '94 Performer Contest

The IRIS Performer team will again have an Onyx/RE2 system in
one of SGI's booths at SIGGRAPH '94 in Orlando, Florida. We
are looking for interesting and attractive demos of existing
applications developed using IRIS Performer for exhibition at
this station.

The prizes, beyond the deep and lasting satisfaction of public
recognition of a job well done, will be a new IRIS Performer
"polo-style" shirt that has the IRIS Performer (with top-hat
and cane) embroidered in seven colors on the front. This latest
addition to the PerformerWear line is beautiful and much sought
after.

We'll have a 4-CPU deskside system with either two or four
Raster Manager boards at a small stand with monitor, mouse and
(possibly) a flybox. If you have an application that runs well
in this configuration that you would like to enter into the
judging for the demo contest, please take the following steps:

 1. Send email to me (mtj++at++sgi.com) with a brief summary of the
application: what it is, how the user interacts, frame rates,
special I/O devices required, etc. A screen snapshot in RGB
form would be great. The decision will happen on July 11th,
and entries after the decision will be deemed to have lost.

 2. I'll respond with the method for sending your demo to us for
judging and a simple release form that says we're allowed to
show the demo in our booth at SIGGRAPH '94. FAX the release
back to me and ftp or mail the demo, and you'll have entered.

 3. Please let me know if you would be willing to schedule a
time slot during SIGGRAPH when you could come by the booth
and explain your work to the many customers who will be
    asking for more information.

 4. Also, let me know if you'd like to have an RGB snapshot of
your application and a one paragraph description of it to
appear on the SGI IRIS Performer xmosaic page.

The judges (the seven members of the IRIS Performer team) will
pick four winning demos based on theme, technical merit, and
beauty. All entrants -- winning or not -- will be invited to
join the IRIS Performer team for a late-night "engineering
discussion" (;-) at Disney's Pleasure Island.

Good Luck!

Be seeing you, Phone:415.390.1455 Fax:415.390.2658 M/S:8U-590
