  Here's a good way to solve things without having to use any sort of
mail agent when you are using Pine.
  Just have your mailing list mail go to a different account. For
instance, I usually use a machine with address
"grizzly.cs.washington.edu", but I sometimes use
"stein.u.washington.edu". My direct mail goes to grizzly, mailing list
goes to stein. (Delete your .forward file!). Then, in Pine, create a
separate folder for that inbox. In my .pinerc file I have:

incoming-folders=Performer {stein.u.washington.edu}inbox

  It's pretty cool. I go through my normal mail, and then Pine gets my
password for stein and opens the Performer folder.
